She is a captive princess of a fallen nation, her loyalty forever bound to her homeland.

He is a decorated general, crowned with honor, yet his heart belongs to only one.

Duty and love—two edges of the same blade.

To live on is to betray the heart; to follow love is to shatter the soul.

How does one confront this inevitable dilemma, this world of contradiction and senseless slaughter?

AIDA the Peking Opera portrays a daughter torn between passion and duty, between love and sacrifice. Here, love is not romantic, but profoundly true, not dazzling, but devastatingly cruel.

The affection between young Aida and her man has gone beyond the point of no return— a story you may already know from Verdi’s opera AIDA or the Broadway musical AIDA. Here Maestro Li Bao-Chun gives this timeless story a new depth, via the music and movements of Peking Opera, in an exotic and overwhelming epic stage form.

2026, hurry to the theater and witness this legendary love story retold.

Recomposed, directed, and performed by Li Bao-Chun, starring Kung Yueh-Tzu and Li Long-Xian of the Taipei Li-Yuan Peking Opera Theatre, with special appearance of soprano Lin Tzu-Yin.

Arias by Lu Yu-Yung; music by Chung Yiu-Kwong, choreography by Bao Er-Ji and Leng Jing, infusing the beauty of traditional Chinese performing arts with that of the West.
